Ixias - Corn lilies
Besides being decorative flowers for the garden are perfect as cut-flowers - being cut only when they are in bud. Planting time: in March-April as well as in late autumn (nov-dec). They have long stalks carrying dainty starlike flowers. Planted in the spring they flower around July-August, planted in the autumn around June. They are best palnted in pots of sandy soil or in holes of approx 6 cm deep and approx 8 cm apart in sandy soil. In sheltered beds and covered with peat for protection against frost. Store bulbs in a warm, dry place until planting.
