Sarracenia hybrid
This unusual carnivorous plant is native to swampy, humid regions of North America. These highly specialized environments have a high water table and primarily a peat moss substrate. We can grow indoors also if we provide similar conditions.
Upright leaves are tubular, the tops slightly bent over like a hood. It has reddish-pink flushed pitchers with pink areoles. These leaves contain sweet juices that lure insects. Once an insect is inside, it is unable to escape.
They need a special planting medium: mix of peat moss and perlite.
Always be sure to use distilled or rainwater only, as they contain nutrients and minerals at low enough levels to avoid causing damage or die-off.
